Mobile web apps versus Native Apps it’s still a hot debate, but Firefox OS, the open source operating system designed to run apps built from web technologies, has arrived to demonstrate that mobile apps built using web technologies can rival or better the native apps.
With FFOS, Mozilla has done a remarkable job making its core apps, like its dialer, mail client and music client, feel like native mobile apps. They make excellent use of advanced HTML5 techniques like transitions to give the apps a native vibe. So Mozilla has succeeded in building an HTML-based platform that allows Mozilla to build apps that “look & feel” native. But the much harder task will be to provide third-party developers tools to build apps with the same level of polish and convince them to good use of it.
